Chapter 5: Seduction

 Chapter 5: Seduction

Liang Yuan took a deep breath. For the past six months, he had rarely left his home.

A great deal had happened outside. Some neighbors had turned, killing and stealing for food. Others feigned weakness, begging piteously at his door for refuge. There were also thugs who tried to break down his door to solve things with violence.

He knew very well that it was chaotic outside.

Although not every floor of the thirty-two-story building was occupied, the occupancy rate was at least fifty percent.

His own building had a layout of one elevator serving two households per floor, with six such units connected together.

There were connecting corridors between each unit, which meant there were at least twelve households per floor.

The entire building would then have 384 households, and based on a normal occupancy rate, there should be at least 192 residents.

"Fortunately, this residential complex was for owner-occupiers; many of the buyers were either investors or young couples preparing for marriage."

"The investors wouldn't live here, so the occupancy rate is only half, and those people don't count."

"So, if they're young couples, that's two people per household. There must be at least 384 people in this building alone."

Liang Yuan pondered this. Of course, this was just an estimate; the actual number was surely higher.

Because as far as he knew, among the homebuyers of Meidu Huayuan, there were quite a few families of three who had just had a child, buying a place here so the child could be registered for household registration and attend school.

Such families would have more than three people; perhaps there were elderly relatives helping to look after the child.

So the number of people could only be greater than his calculation.

As for the number of deaths caused by the flood disaster, it wasn't actually as high as one might imagine.

Because the flood brought by the torrential downpour didn't appear all at once. Many people had already run upstairs when their own homes were about to be submerged.

Putting aside the few who wanted to go out to search for supplies and ended up dying in the floodwaters outside.

Among the majority of the deceased, many were actually killed in fights over housing and supplies, beating each other to death.

When order collapsed, force was the only thing that mattered, and human life became increasingly worthless.

Every day at home, he could hear screams from the rooftop and moans in the hallway.

Over these past six months, through the peephole, he had seen too many horrific things.

This was also the reason he had been desperately training his physical fitness and enhancing his combat abilities.

But now, with the appearance of the System, he had no choice but to make a decision.

He had to find a way to get out and find a way to kill the mutated creatures.

"Mutated creatures..."

Liang Yuan got up, dressed, and stuffed some foam into his chest and groin. This served two purposes: simple protection, and if he不幸ly fell into the water, it would increase his buoyancy.

He also specifically found an electric scooter helmet to wear on his head, in case the hallway was pitch black and he got ambushed from behind.

After fully arming himself, he slung a rope over his back, picked up the long spear he had welded from a steel pipe and a fruit knife, and grabbed a flashlight from the side. With that, he was ready.

This time, going out had two goals: first, to scout the path downstairs, and the second, to find mutated creatures.

Liang Yuan stood at the door, listened to the sounds outside for a moment, and confirmed that no one was there before quietly opening his apartment door.

Looking through the security door, the hallway was pitch black. The occasional smell of burnt wafted over, probably from someone having lit a fire to cook here before.

He paid it no mind and quietly opened the security door, then slowly closed his apartment door behind him.

After pulling out the key, Liang Yuan didn't rashly turn on his flashlight. Instead, he stood quietly at the stairwell for a moment.

There was the sound of heavy rain pattering on the roof from above, and what sounded like voices from downstairs.

Liang Yuan walked towards the emergency exit. The moment he opened the door, a salty, seawater smell hit him in the face.

In addition, there was a great deal of foul odor.

He frowned slightly and faintly heard some movement in the hallway.

He immediately turned on his flashlight and looked into the hallway warily.

He saw that the hallway was filled with household garbage, and the originally white walls were covered in mold.

At the corner between two flights of stairs, there was a small platform made of piled-up garbage, fashioned into a simple bed.

Two women were lying on that small bed. When the flashlight shone on them, they subconsciously raised their hands to cover their eyes.

One of the women quickly shouted, "My man is with Erlong Ge's people, don't you do anything rash!"

The other woman remained silent, just shrinking back into a corner.

Liang Yuan took a closer look at these two women; they looked somewhat familiar.

The one speaking seemed to be a woman from the third floor, and the silent one was probably from the fourth.

Both women had a common feature: they had very prominent chests.

The woman who spoke was a bit older, probably in her mid-thirties.

The woman from the fourth floor should only be in her early twenties, and her looks were decent.

Liang Yuan knew who "Erlong Ge" was that the third-floor woman was talking about.

Liu Erlong, the property supervisor of Meidu Huayuan, who also lived in this building.

Before the great flood, Liang Yuan had run into Liu Erlong a few times in the community.

Liu Erlong was tall and well-built, seemed to have a habit of working out, and was very polite to the residents. He was also very active in the building's owner group chat.

After the great flood, this man led several property management staff to loot a great deal of goods from the convenience store at the entrance. It was from then on that he gradually made a name for himself.

Over the past six months, he had basically become the most powerful person in this building.

"What are your names?" Liang Yuan asked in a low voice.

The two women were stunned. The woman in her thirties quickly said, "Young master, I'm the tenant from the third floor, Fan Meiqin. This is the owner from the fourth floor, Ding Yan, Xiao Ding. Quick, greet the young master."

The woman called Xiao Ding muttered dully, "Big brother good."

Liang Yuan glanced at Ding Yan. This woman seemed to be severely traumatized; she had likely experienced a great deal of despair over the past six months.

"Young master, are you an owner from upstairs? Do you have any space left? We have nowhere to live, our homes are all flooded. Please, be kind, can you spare us a room? We're willing to do anything."

Fan Meiqin knelt on the ground, her face full of pleading. She deliberately let the blanket slip, revealing a thin T-shirt underneath.

The neckline of the T-shirt was very wide, revealing a snowy cleavage.

She wasn't wearing a bra at all, and her prominent nipples were clearly visible.

Liang Yuan hadn't been with a woman in six months, and a surge of desire went straight to his head.

He looked for a moment, then asked, "I thought there were quite a few empty apartments in this building?"

Fan Meiqin cried, "They've all been taken over. We're just two women, not very capable..."

Liang Yuan didn't press the issue. Instead, he asked, "Where does Liu Erlong live?"

But Fan Meiqin didn't answer. She scrambled to her feet and tried to move closer to Liang Yuan.

"Young master, I really can do anything. As long as I have a place to stay and something to eat, I can be your slave, your ox, your horse. Any position you want, I'm..."

Before she could finish, Liang Yuan thrust his pipe spear forward, pointing it directly at her chest. "Stay right there!" he said in a cold voice. "I'm asking you a question!"
